Chateau de Macard 2009

One thing that I look for is a great QPR from an area that makes some of the best wines in the world. Most that drink Bordeaux are snobs! Admit it! You have every reason to be. One thing I hope that you take away from this is, if you can't afford to drink high end Bdx's everyday, this can fill the void. Here are my thoughts....but as Gary V taught me, trust your own palate.

A wonderful surprise! For Bordeaux drinkers that do not want to fork out First Growth prices, this 2009 QPR ($18) will certainly hit the spot. Deep garnet in color, the nose reveals layers of dark fruit,  violets, and a touch of olives. Fruit forward, with a delicate entry,  flavors of fruit skins, blackberries, plums, and a hint of oak coat the palate creating a mouth watering feeling. Great concentration with big, round tannins make this a pleasure to drink now through 2012. RH 91+
