This morning, my girlfriend and I had the opportunity to open 3 bottles of Dom Perignon 2002 with family and friends. I put together some tasting notes while the others enjoyed this Champagne. Sorry I do not have pictures, but I did take one of a bottle that I will post later. I hope you enjoy my notes, as well as this wonder Thanksgiving.
Dom Perignon would smile! This Champagne delivers an elegance other houses dream of capturing in one bottle. Emerging your nose into the glass unviels an intense array of aromatics such as fresh lemons, yeast, almonds, and minerality. A rich, creamy complexity of dried fruits, floral components, citrus, and honey arouse the palate while the mouth-feel is dominated by beautiful acidity and a layer smokiness. What remarkable structure! Disgorged in July 2009, the 2002 will benefit from many years of rest, but peeking inside now doesn't do any injustice...in my opinion.
The purpose of "The Vino Cellar" is to give you, the drinker, an accurate and extensive database that, to the best of my ability, will characterize and describe different wines and varietals from around the world, as well as bring you important news from the wine world.
